Paying homage to the great Infinity Engine games of years past: Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment. Pillars of Eternity and Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire are isometric, party-based RPGs set in a new fantasy world developed by Obsidian Entertainment. No reason to hamstring your stats for the entire game to cover something easily blockable with a low level potion.Welcome to the Pillars of Eternity Subreddit! The one shot you’re talking about is necrotic lance and yes it can one shot people, which is why you bring those spellwrights to a choke point and infuse vital essence potion the few times you run into them in the early game. I ran a 3 party team(chanter, Dps pally and a Dumped con /res rogue) and the rogue was more than capable of tanking 1 on 1 during the concelhaut siege which has a huge ramp in difficulty. Once you get to mid game and beyond even with 3 con you will have more than enough hp to survive the fight so long as you aren’t tanking more than one mob(and with a rogue you shouldn’t be). Which is why I said “almost completely useless”. If you plan to use a priest, various support spells only cover a small area. Staying far from your frontliners and out of reach from the AoE of attacks makes it more complicated to give party support. ![]() ![]() But melee rogues would be able to get the +12 Accuracy bonus for 1H weapon attacks, and that makes them a very interesting choice, since they can use abilities to cause essential afflictions more safely than with ranged attacks. Which probably means making them ranged attackers. Rogues are super-fragile and extremely helpless with CON 3 RES 3, unless you put a lot of effort into keeping them out of trouble. It's not a wizard who can cast Deleterious Alacrity of Motion as the first spell, and even a wizard would not want to do that all the time before gaining per encounter spells.īetter choose are more versatile, more capable, more helpful druid - especially if playing with companions. If dumping DEX, you won't be happy with your druid's low action speed. For all essential attackers, if playing on PotD mode you are well-advised to increase Accuracy even if you plan to use Priest support spells. In addition to the -10 Accuracy penalty of the druid class. PotD mode also increases defenses of enemies. Not helpful.ĭruid class traits are: Very Low Endurance, Low Health, Average Deflection, Very Low Accuracy Most of the time your druid will be busy hiding somewhere and trying to stay out of trouble. Reducing CON/RES also lowers your Fortitude defense, Deflection defense, Will defense and Concentration. RES 3 would add a whopping -17 Deflection decrease compared with a fighter. Why would you want to dump CON for a druid if playing on PotD? It would make your druid even more fragile. ![]()
